Since around 1995, one has seen a growing wave of articles and monographs published about the Muslims of medieval southern Italy. The most lengthy, and one which arguably defines the field in English, is the history of Sicily's Muslims by Leonard Chiarelli, but Jeremy Johns and Hiroshi Takayama have contributed much, and in French there are Henri Bresc and Annliese Nef, among others.
It is worth noting that much work now presented in English translation was already transcribed from the source documents, with much translated into Italian or French. Here Michele Amari comes to mind. Even so, new approaches and analyses are always welcome.
