About the Author

Marita Woywod Crandle has been writing and storytelling since she was a little girl. She has always had a fancy for the magical side of life, making New Orleans, with its very creative atmosphere, a perfect match for this German transplant. Marita is currently working on a novel dedicated to one of the French Quarter legends, the Carter Brothers, and the book Drinking Mistakes, her memoirs as a Bourbon Street bartender. Marita has also written the holiday children's book Rufus, the Yuletide Bat, available at her gift store.

Wow! Just wow!!! I just finished Marita's book. I am blown away. Blown away by her kindness for autographing my copy--with the special letter of her experience on the top floor of the Saint Ursuline Convent. Blown away by the celebrity foreword that literally, freaking gave me chills. Blown away by Marita's family lineage. Blown away by the time and effort my friend took to research and approve/disprove vampire fact and fiction in New Orleans. I think I have more questions now than I ever did!If you are an avid vampire fan, as I am, you must read this book. It is so so packed with vital information necessary to the history of vampires in North America, particularly New Orleans. I'm already ready to reread it! Simply fangtastic!

I was looking for inspiration and decided to read this book based on vampire tales that originated in New Orleans. I found the stories interesting. I've read quite a few books on vampires, but I'd never heard of these stories about The Casket Girls, Comte De St. Germain, and the Carter Brothers. As I was reading them, I could almost sense the mystery and spookiness of the Quarter. The author's own vampire encounter gave me chills. As an added bonus, there is a bibliography at the end for further reading. Highly recommended for anyone who loves well-researched vampire tales.
