Review
J.V. Hilliard is one of those authors, rare today, who crafts his world with meticulous care and lush imagination. His style is well-developed, the narrative flow and pacing well-crafted. Hilliard neglected nothing and, thus, created a fantastic setting, so vivid that it isn't only cinematic but made me feel I was riding to Thronehelm, sailing around the Horn of Seabrooke on the way to Castleshire, and sipping the Queen's Nectar—the best wine in Warminster. ...
The good news is The Last Keeper is the first book in The Warminster series. The bad news is that sleepless nights await everyone reading this magical tale full of battles, sorcery, magical weapons, strange animals and races, and common folk with uncommon traits, ready to sacrifice themselves to save someone or to stab their own kin in the back. Hilliard's story brimming with bravery, love, hate, madness, and spite will absorb the readers so much that closing the last page and facing the real world may seem like a shock."
- Book Fairy ★★★★★
"This wonderfully detailed medieval fantasy tale is filled with dramatic action and adventure. The characters are well developed and easy for the reader to connect with. The story's pace is intense and keeps you on your toes the entire time. I was always wondering what would happen next and found this book to be unpredictable." - Literary Titan ★★★★★

About the author
Born of steel, fire and black wind, J.V. Hilliard was raised as a highlander in the foothills of a once-great mountain chain on the confluence of the three mighty rivers that forged his realm's wealth and power for generations.
His father, a peasant twerg, toiled away in industries of honest labor and instilled in him a work ethic that would shape his destiny. His mother, a local healer, cared for his elders and his warrior uncle, who helped to raise him during his formative years. His genius brother, whose wizardly prowess allowed him to master the art of the abacus and his own quill, trained with him for battles on fields of green and sheets of ice.
Hilliard’s earliest education took place in his warrior uncle’s tower, where he learned his first words. HIs uncle helped him to learn the basics of life—and, most importantly, creative writing.
Hilliard’s training and education readied him to lift a quill that would scribe the tale of the realm of Warminster, filled with brave knights, harrowing adventure and legendary struggles. He lives in the city of silver cups, hypocycloids and golden triangles with his wife, a ranger of the diamond. They built their castle not far into the countryside, guarded by his own two horsehounds, Thor and MacLeod, and resides there to this day.

The book is incredibly well written. Excellent world and character building. If you love fantasy you will love this book and series! This is the first book in the Warminster Series. Every imaginable fantasy creature is included in this book. My favorite that I’ve never seen in other fantasy books or series is a black unicorn!
You are first introduced to Graytorris a fallen keeper who seeks revenge. Daemus Alaric (Keeper of the Forbidden) a seer but was born blind. You then meet Addilyn Elspeth, an Elve who teams with Daemus to stop the evil that is trying to destroy the keepers, and Ritter, a knight also joins the fight. All of these characters have their own interesting story and are very well developed. You will follow and learn about them as they each fight their own battle against Graytorris to save the world from darkness.
You are going to have to read the book to find out if they are victorious in defeating Graytorris or if he lives to continue his wrath.
This book is fast paced, intriguing and well written. I’m anxious to start Book 2 – Vorodin’s Lair. I consider this a must read book for fantasy lovers. Especially if you are a Lord of the Rings fan.

The last keeper changed into an engrossing ebook which had all the elements one wishes in an excellent myth. The author has provided it very super . It's need to have a take a look at ebook. This book is the first book of amazing series. There are three main characters of this book who are totally different from others and story also follows every one simultaneously in the same timeline. Who doesn't like to witness a full - packed adventure with tremendous magical elements. This book is an escape from reality which has thrill and fantasy to your psycho. It's the first part of the series ' The warminster'. And I must say the first part is blasting enough to crew for the next part . And so ,the blinded man shall pass through the fog and walk on the water. Third & last main character of story is my favorite and definitely will be yours too. He sis silter of valkeneer , who's a trollborn knight ,half Elvin, half human . He had a loyal falcon who he communicates and strategies with.
All the characters were gracefully sketched, with everyone having their depth their personality trait. The flow of the story is so well maintained. The strategic development of the plot was truly commendable. If one is into fiction, then this book is there must pick. I will be waiting eagerly for the next book in the series Warminster. Because some endings are not an ending yet.
The opening few chapters had things that confused me though they were later explained. The language is simple and lucid, and the plot is narrated extraordinarily well. The cover is creatively designed, and the title makes good sense to the story. The dramatic cliffhanger at the end has me anxious to learn what happens in the next book of the series. To sum up, it is an enjoyable read and I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
This is a fantasy story and I did find the beginning was rather slow paced and drawn out.
There were so many characters and I did find it confusing trying to remember which character was which.
Once it picked up, I did find it to be action packed and full of adventure.
I’m looking forward to reading the second book in this series.
