Explore the Mortal Realms in this great action-packed novel.

In the rain-soaked shanty towns of Excelsis, sellsword Niksar Astaboras drunkenly barters his way to a meaningless existence. Little does he care for the war that rages between men and monsters beyond the city walls, despite portents of its encroaching threat. Mortal life in the Realm of Beasts is short enough, and to leave the shelter of civilisation is to surrender to certain death.

But death is coming to Excelsis. The forces of Destruction are on the move and the realm quakes with each thunderous step. In the wildlands, a sinister new foe overwhelms even the mighty Stormcast Eternals. Yet just as all seems lost, an unexpected champion rises – one to whom Niksar is inextricably linked – ready to lead a crusade into the very heart of darkness. Embroiled in this harrowing journey, Niksar is forced to choose between loyalty and the chance of survival, and in so doing discover his true worth in the greatest battle yet against savagery.

This is a great introduction into Warhammer age of sigmar for those not familiar with the world of AoS. It is also a great introduction to a new race, the Kruleboyz and the realm of Ghur for those who are more familiar with the setting.

Following along with the new 3rd edition storyline Dominion is about a brother and sister who inadvertently end up leading a Dawnbringer Crusade, and an effort by the forces of Order to retake the land of Ghur. But they soon find out that there is a reason so many of these crusades are failures. In addition to facing the usual challenges in the land of beasts, there is a new mysterious threat that lurks in an unnatural mist that hangs over the land. This is a very entertaining story that is an excellent introduction to the storyline in the latest edition of Warhammer AOS. If you like stories that take place in this fantasy universe you should definitely give this one a read!

This book is epic, great characters, excellent story, really does a good job of bringing Aos current, I throughly enjoyed it.

Not the worst story but not the best. Just felt kind of eh. Not bad characters but we don't really get a satisfying ending for them. Nothing solid really ends up happening at the end besides one thing but it was obvious what would happen. None of the sacrifices and death felt like it had meaning. Fights and some of the death needed to be fleshed out but weren't. It was incredibly rushed towards the ending. Honestly I'd say 2.5 out of 5. Not one of Hinks best at all.

I'll admit my approach to this novel may not be fair. I enjoyed 'Soul Wars,' the kick off to 2nd ed. AoS immensely and I expected (unfairly) the same approach to 'Dominion.' Dominion is a battle novel that, I'm sure by design is ment to show off the Realms of Beasts... and it does that extremely well. Some of the scenes involving the eccentricities of the land are quite fun (the river, is particularly interesting.) My complaint is that the green skin don't really make an appearance, at least fully anyway, until about two-thirds of the way through the novel. I would have also preferred more reflection and possibly interaction with the Gods, like they did in the novel 'Soul Wars.' Still, a decent entry in the series. Three and a half Stars. It just needed that extra oomph.

This book read like well-produced, "You go, girl!" fanfiction. I was wondering if I accidentally got a glass of wine and turned on the Lifetime network instead of reading a book. The central plot revolves around a Mary-Sue character who's perfect and faithful, to the point that the Stormcast Eternals look like flawed children in her wake. Whether this is a result of GW or BL embracing wokeness, or Darius Hinks' own volition, it breaks any sense of immersion; there are interesting story elements that are instantly dashed in ridiculous, eye-rolling fashion all serving to prop up the female MacGuffin.

More importantly, all of this just seems to serve as an excuse to have a mediocre story. The first 100 pages are all about establishing the MacGuffin, the next 100 pages are about showing the flawed Stormcast Eternal protagonist. Having finished reading it now, I'm taken aback by how bland the whole thing is. If this is the direction the Black Library is headed, I'm very disappointed.

Lots of great world building, very interestinglore and fluff for the Age of Sigmar game. It just, well it could be better.
Characterization is just not is deep as the world building. It's been a fun read and I would recomend it still. 4 out of 5.

Gives an introduction to the way the Krule boyz wage war. The story was well paced and well written. Only missed a KB protagonist.
