"Tolomeo Filadelfo nella biblioteca di Alessandria", or "Ptolemy Philadelphus founds the Library of Alexandria", is an oil painting from 1813 by Italian artist Vincenzo Camuccini (1771-1844 CE). The painting portrays the Greco-Macedonian king and ruler of Egypt, Ptolemy II Philadelphus within the famous Library of Alexandria. Historically, Ptolemy II was a devoted patron of the arts responsible for the foundation and patronage of the Library and its adjoining buildings. (Capodimonte National Museum)
