On the Schönbühl hill in Augusta Raurica, in Switzerland, you are in the middle of a religious district. It existed in the early days of the city. Here stood around 50 AD, several small temples. The buildings are typical of the Gallo-Roman architecture in Switzerland. Around 70 AD, the site was completely redesigned. In the center, a mighty pillared temple was erected on a podium, the remains of which you can still see today. In this temple, it is likely that the Roman emperor and the Roman state gods were worshiped.
