Mark Beumer

Ancient Historian, graduated at Radboud University Nijmegen. I performed research about the Greek goddess Hygieia and the Greek god Asklepios. Research about the identity of Hygieia, her role in the cult of Asklepios and reception history are part of this research. Furthermore I am specialized in early christianity in the Roman world, Roman imperial cult and Greek democracy. I own a website for historians (www.markbeumer.eu) and am interested in many subjects like ancient religion, early and medieval christianity, philosophy of history and heuristics.
Currently I am writing a dissertation about the ritual transfer of temple sleep in Late Antiquity.
